Part Three, Sustainability

Each week, we delve into the realm of artificial intelligence, posing one burning question to three prominent AI programs about the dynamic event industry and having our in-house experts at TPNI evaluate their responses.
We’ve asked three prominent AI programs—ChatGPT by Open AI, Bard from Google, and Bing’s Co-Pilot—our question for this week:
How Can AI Help Attendees Get More from My Events?

Earlier this week, we asked ChatGPT and Co-Pilot (check out their answers in Part One and Part Two!). Finally, we’re asking Bard from Google. Here’s what it came up with:

There are many ways to make conferences more sustainable, including:

  • Go paperless. This can be done by providing electronic tickets, programs, and other materials, as well as by encouraging attendees to take notes electronically.
  • Choose sustainable vendors. When selecting caterers, exhibitors, and other vendors, give preference to those who are committed to sustainability. This may include using locally sourced food, recyclable materials, and renewable energy.
  • Ditch single-use plastics. Provide reusable water bottles, coffee mugs, and cutlery for attendees. Avoid using plastic bags for swag or other items.
  • Create a waste management strategy. This should include providing clearly labeled recycling and composting bins, as well as training staff on how to properly manage waste.
  • Offer a hybrid option. This allows attendees to participate remotely, which reduces travel emissions.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Choose a sustainable venue. Select a venue that is LEED certified or has other green features. Consider venues that are close to public transportation or have on-site accommodations.
  • Reduce food waste. Work with your caterer to plan menus that minimize food waste. Offer a variety of meal options, including vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Offset carbon emissions. Calculate the carbon emissions associated with your conference and purchase carbon offsets to compensate for them.
  • Communicate your sustainability goals. Let attendees know about your sustainability initiatives and encourage them to participate.

By following these tips, you can help to make your conference more sustainable and reduce its environmental impact.
